For parents who

Want good-value experiences

Your imagination is free. Special times with your children are priceless. Sometimes you pay for professional artists, but the impressions they leave on children can last a lifetime.

Many parents' favourite creative moments with their children seem to have been totally spontaneous - they just emerge when the ideas can flow, when parent and child allow themselves to play.

It's important for children to have access to good quality materials, instruments and tools - for drawing, for playing music, for making up shows etc. Sometimes these can be expensive but if children learn to look after things well an investment is well made. At other times, you can get more out of making your own materials, perhaps out of recycled objects and things lying around the home.

And with a little investigation you can probably find special performances, workshops, events, lessons, demonstrations and exhibitions nearby, which are either designed especially or appropriate for young children and families. Sometimes these are funded and sometimes you have to pay. Either way, the cost and effort will hopefully be justified by something that feeds children's imaginations for years.
